PROCEDURAL DOCUMENT

Rationale
To ensure students have adequate facilities for outdoor activities.
Purpose
To provide a safe environment for the students to develop physical and social skills through play and outdoor activities.
Broad Guidelines
Out of bounds
areas: car park area, behind the Senior Block and hall, and the
streams. Some areas will be closed at times at staff discretion.
Staff are rostered
onto playground duty. The duty teacher has the responsibility to
ensure safety in the playground. Staff members coming off duty must
ensure the next duty person has arrived.
Rostered use of outside resources will be implemented.
At all times safety in the playground is paramount, students are expected to play safely
Should a serious
accident occur in the playground – the student should be left in
position until checked by a current first aider- treat for shock until
injuries are determined. Notify parents as per Record of Accident
Procedure.
Red flags mean keep off any grassed area.
Skateboards,
scooters, and skates are permitted on Wednesdays in the designated area
only, provided appropriate protective gear is worn.
The playground is unsupervised outside of the hours from 9.00 – 3.00pm during school term
