Map of the Skate ban areaPlease think twice about riding your scooter around the centre of Upper Hutt as the police are about to enforce a strict ban. If they take your scooter off you it will cost $20 for you to get it back. Make sure you only use it at the skate park, not on the streets and you will be fine. This message is from Constable Kerry Fenton:
In recent times there has been a large influx of skateboarders and scooters in the CBD area of Upper Hutt.
A few years ago the Council put a ban in place for these and the area was policed accordingly.
The Upper Hutt Police is about to enforce the By Law due to a large number of complaints and a few injuries.
